Horror Location Research

After reviewing and discussing possible locations for the scenes in our trailer, we decided on the following; Apex Park, the Bay Club, C14 and Ben Travers Way. The main theme of our film trailer is to have it taking place in a believable location, as we found that giving the audience a chance to relate their lives to the actions on screen, leaves more of a lasting effect and will entice them in to watch the full film. Apex park, the bay club and Ben Travers way are all locations with wide open spaces, giving a sense of isolation along with allowing us as much flexibility when it comes to filming as possible. This way if we need to alter the type of shot or positioning of the camera, we can. The other main reason for choosing these locations is that we will be filming at night, and a lot of these places include street lights, giving us some wider options in regards to natural lighting, as we feel the use of natural lighting, rather than artificial will provide a more authentic and realistic theme to the film. The harsh lighting from street lights will also provide a certain emphasis on the character's face as it will make the shadows more extreme and obvious. After observing locations around the local area, we decided the room C14 would provide us with the best lighting to fit the theme in the part of our trailer taking place in a hospital.
